I was chosen with a group of four other sisters while on a holiday visit home in Brooklyn, NY over eleven years ago. We were identified by two Reiki Master Teachers to be attuned to Level I Reiki. I am unsure if I’d even heard the word Reiki before and was consciously not seeking or acknowledging shifting on what was my spiritual path at the time. But, I was very comfortable in positively responding to my eldest sister when she gave me instructions to show up that rainy Sunday afternoon. She, Brenda Boyd-Bell was one of the two Master Teachers, who were a part of the beginning of this newest adventure for me.
I received my first Reiki session that Sunday afternoon and did not want to get off the table because the experience felt so comforting, warm and just good to my core. I was then attuned. There was no formal class, workshop or guidance into this world of Reiki healing provided. We were taken through a rapid session on hand placement for self-healing, told the importance of performing Reiki on self. We were instructed to purchase a particular manual, read it, and practice on others and ourselves.
Less than a year later I was led to my Reiki Level II Master Teacher and attunement, two years later I was led to my first Level III Master Teacher to become and was attuned to a Level III Reiki Master Teacher. In 2006 I received a message from Spirit, which stated, “You are to be impeccable for the students coming to you. Go to Sedona.” June 2007 I was guided by Spirit to The Infinite Light Healing Center in Sedona, AZ and completed a three-day course in Advanced Reiki Training and the Master Teacher level. The certification is from the International Center for Reiki Training Usui/Tibetan system of healing. This was the second time I invested in Level III Master Teacher training.
I use the term ‘led’ to my instructors because this healing modality is directly related to energy and all aspects of it is guided by God’s energy; once one makes the intention in their thoughts, in their mind, the party begins. We can seek out our instructors, facilitators of this ‘healing stuff’, but in the process we are being ‘guided’ to who is to assist God in ushering in this new level of energy with for us. The entire process goes back to the moment we thought about it whether consciously or unconsciously. I guess somewhere on the path I thought about taking the formal Health Educator in me to a deeper, higher level.
As a result of being invited to friends’ and associates’ family’s hospital rooms and homes to offer the healing touch, God sent another message that I am to be ordained. I would be led to the ministry appropriated for me to do my work. In October 2006 I was ordained into the Madonna Ministry. I am also a certified Hospice volunteer.
I have been a Reiki Practioner since 1998 and have began facilitating Levels I workshops & II in 2003. I have attuned dozens of students. They have ranged in age from ten to fifty plus years. I work out of my home office and have been blessed to facilitate Reiki Attunement Workshops at Hillside Chapel & Truth Center’s Transformative Living Program since 2005. Those workshops take place each season pf the year.
The Plan is to reach back to each of the students who have honored me by coming through Reiki by La, to become part of a delegation with intentions of providing God’s Healing to the community and the world. In 2009, we will begin to offer Healing sessions in Hospices facilities as well as those at home in Hospice, hospitals, senior living and leisure facilities, etc., in groups. My mother Ardrie I. Boyd was an active member of a group of women; they called themselves, a ‘Prayer Band’, which stemmed out of our church home in Brooklyn. When I was a child, this group of sisters would meet and go from homes to hospitals providing prayer and song to members once a week. Our circle will consist of women, children and men all willing to gift the community as ‘Light Workers.”
